High Quality Drums With Full Tone Range

Ivory Coast djembes are world-renowned for their very full tonal range and professional quality. We have improved on the standard Ivory Coast drums in a few key ways to create high quality drums:

1. We use thicker, sturdier rings for more durability. Usually Ivory Coast drums are made using a weak bottom ring that slips off the step carved in the shell, but we use a sturdy, thick ring even on the bottom of the bowl. We custom carve our drums to increase the bottom "step" typical of Ivory Coast djembes to accommodate our thicker bottom rings so they will not buckle or slip under pressure.

2. We re-work the bearing edge on every drum to make sure it is level, round, and perfectly smooth.

3. We hand select every skin using the larger, thicker goatskins from the Northern part of the country.

4. We use European 2-part polyester rope and take extra care to create uniform, well-spaced cradles.

5. We apply an extra coat of liquid shea butter on all the drums to help preserve the wood.
